Split Lobbies

Hey guys.

It looks like we have got lots of you guys which is a great pleasure, this now means if we all show up for a race tonight, we wont all fit in 1 lobby though, well if we all did show up wee would need 4 lobbies!
So we need to split lobbies. The most fair way to do this is either pre-qualifying for the lobbies, or a random slection.

Pre-qualifying can be done 1 of 2 ways. We all do qualifying times in a session, then fast guys in 1 lobby and the rest in the nest lobby, or we stagger the qualifying meaning 12st, 3rd, 5th all odd numbers race together, and all even numbers race together so 2nd, 4th, 6th and so on. A random selction is also a good idea.

Give us your thoughts on how you think the best way and most fair way to split lobbies would be! Would you prefer pre-qualifying or random selction?

If there is full on pre qualifying to decide on a "faster" lobby and a "not so fast" lobby please tell me we aren't giving 25 points to the winner of the slower lobby Lol ;>) ?!

Yes now this is something to discuss...points situation in split lobbies. The then "slower" lobby by all rights should not get the same point as the fast lobby. Perhaps we halve there lobby points, so it still encourages them to speed up for the wins? That would not be too bad for the fast lobby, it also makes the fast guys try harder to not loose out if they too low down the order lol.

Good point though, any other views or wish to comment further Trevisio?

We can possibly do random lobbies, with full points for both like UKOG did, or plit lobbies based on qualifying and devide the points, or give full points to both or all lobbies...which does mean a slower guy potentially gets more points than a fast guy.

I would like to be as fair as possible to all, while still encouraging the slower guys too. Dont want them loosing any motovation.

Lets see how many turn up without any lag then decide

Had maximum number of drivers (8,9,10?) in a lobby been agreed? :-)

Not yet, but judging by lag, best size to no lag i have had was 10, most cases though 8 to 9 is the best. It seems the more country locations in 1 lobby the worse the lobby gets. So if 10 were from the UK it would be great, but if each were from a different country then there are issues.

Many games on xbox have this issue of more than it seems 3 countries. Its some detail on how it remaps country IP address's.

So depending on who is in tonight, that is always something to consider, if there a major mix of countries then 8 in a lobby i would say.

So far i know there possibly 3 lobbies needed if we do 8 cars per lobby though.

So thats a potential 18, which should be 2 lobbies!

Another way to do the points, we do random lobbies selection, both lobbies get full points, but each race we mix up the lobbies so each race we race different guys. Might make it easier on all guys...just thinking out aloud though lol

It will all be ok I'm sure, as long as the lag issues are manageable :-)

Could be chaos though lol, but great fun with such a great bunch of drivers! Im going to run on my other internet account that runs better than my current one which sometimes like last night, gives a issue or 2!

The only way to split is random. If you split based on pace and driver A is in the slower lobby (with less points) the max he will ever score is say 10 points as opposed to the other guys who will always score a minimum of 12.
Random split is what's required and both lobbies get same points.
But it has to be random. We used to play a video of the room draw at UKOG.

Sounds good to me, how do we do a random draw, how did you do it at UKOG, all names in a hat or something then video it being drawn?

Also, depending on numbers, perhaps less per lobby, like maybe 6 per lobby is better for lag. Any ideas on this Cronnie, from your experience too? I seem to feel 6 runs better than 8, min dyou 3 runs ever better still haha.

I think its ok up to 9 drivers?

Good idea on random lobbies equal points each race if it can be organised.

There are some online random lobby generator tool/apps available, just do a google search

Yeah cap lobbies at 9. I used to go for 8 at ukog just to be double sure there will be no took ups.
