Round 3 : Imola
Round 3 is upon us as we go to one of the most famous race circuits in the world...Imola.
A circuit located in Sane Marino that has been moddified several times for safety reasons but still retains some of its great attributes.
There have been some terrible, horrific accidents here, some fatal and some lucky enough to walk away.
Still, its a beautifull circuit in one of the most beautiful back drops.
Round 3 : Imola is on Monday 24th February 2014 at 22:30 GMT+2 and practice session starts 21:30 GMT+2.
Rough time guide...22:30 GMT+2
South Africa = 22:30
Britain = 20:30

Re: Round 3 : Imola
Ok guys a warning on track limits here.
Some corners have astro turf (the green stuff) on the exits. This is our track limits, so therefore more than 2 wheels over is seen as going off track. Please try keep to the track limits.
Its a bit of a shame that the this awesome track has a few corners where drivers can gain huge pieces of time by effectively cutting the track. Lets keep it real please guys!
The occasional mistake putting you over the edge is not the end of the world if you do not gain and advantage from going wide, and if you do and roll off the throttle to give the time back thats fine too. However if you drive every lap over the track limits you will be penalized with a 30 second penalty added to your race time.

Re: Round 3 : Imola
Twister,
Do you mean more than 2 wheels ON the astro turf? Or Over the astro turf?
So all 4 wheels on the astroturf is okay?
The 2 wheel rule doesn't seem so bad now with this track
I tried cutting all corners to the limit and did a low 1.52 the other night. That could be fun as well. We could set some new best leaderboard times then. When you go over it more than twice, you'll get a drive trough automatically. Problem solved.
In my experience that's the fairest way. People never lift off enough or arent aware they've cut corners.

Re: Round 3 : Imola
Hardly seems fair to me. Ive been practicing all week by not cheating and keeping all 4 wheels on, and I've been lapping high 53's-low 54's

Re: Round 3 : Imola
When the game allows you to do it, it's not really cheating, is it?
Like we say at our local gokarting track: 'the fastest way is through the grass'Â
Before the race I would like to know what the rule's gonna be.
I remember some practice races at Spa where some people overtook me at the final chicane by cutting the corner and going off track completely. That didn't seem fair to me, when I was still in the 2 wheel rule spirit.
btw Cronnie, that Alfa does not seem to respond too well to any setup changes I made last night.
What camber and tyre pressures are you running?

Re: Round 3 : Imola
My alfa was running -4.2 outside wheel -4.0 inside wheel on front and default on rear.
Tyre pressures 24.0 psi inside front, 24.4 outside. And 25.2 rear.
I have ditched the Alfa now though and gone Honda. I wanted to be different from everyone else

Re: Round 3 : Imola
Yeah i meant more than 2 wheel over the green stuff, ie if you drive on other side then its going off track.
Also, if you in a shopping mall, there no signs saying dont kill anyone, but you not ment to lol. Just because game has a flaw, does not mean we should exploit it. I did a 1:52.5 in a live game with Trevisio and Slax one night, that was totally clean still saved the replay, i came last but had my head down so it is possible. I have not done a clean 52 since that night though. I have done low 53's since but since playing Assetto Corsa here i have lost some speed in the first sector which is where i was really strong.
Our idea here is to make this as real as possible, so by cutting the track would not keep to that idea. In real racing 2 wheels over the white line is ok, and some tracks like Monza allow you to cross it completely in some corners. Some tracks allow you to use the curbs and astro turf as a track extention and this is what we are adopting here, since the game is not watching us close enough here.
Cronnie you drove great the other night, very clean with occasional 2 wheel over and thats how its meant to be! Spot on there, and good times. I caught but could not get to pass, well, if i tried it would of been a dirty move lol. Nice driving that night!

Re: Round 3 : Imola
It is yes lol...you allowed to have 2 wheels go past the green stuff to otherside. If you go completely over or past the green then you no longer on track. 2 Wheels on green is perfect, 4 wheels is perfect too, slower for you but thats your choice of line!
Re: Round 3 : Imola
so we see the green stuff as part of the track?
hmm, that changes things
Thanks for clearing that up

Re: Round 3 : Imola
Yes, the green stuff is the end of the track, so keep your car on it, no more than 2 wheels over it lol.
Re: Round 3 : Imola
I'm we'll confused. We should just keep to the rules we have always worked to. 2 wheels over = fair, 4 wheels over = unfair advantage (frowned upon)

Re: Round 3 : Imola
This thread needs pics lol!
Ok so I was a bit drunk over the limit for practice last night & was over track limits too! I had an audience of 2 (also drunk) friends lol :-) so mic was off ....I probably should have stayed in the pits haha.
So, if I read it right, the rule clarification on track limits is its ok if 2 wheels are on the AstroTurf/green bit (not the grass) even if the other 2 wheels are outside of that, e.g. on the run off like exit of that last left/right chicane (Variante Alta) and the one before it (Acque Minerali)

Re: Round 3 : Imola
those where for me 1 off the wurse races with concentration, im a little sick so thats a good excuse..lol, but also hosting, taking pictures off results and stuff is not really my thing..
maybe i need to get used to it but not relaxt enought to get in a raceflow for now.. im better in being quiet..lol
i made mistakes in corners where i normaly dont make that big mistakes.
but first race was awesome bumper to bumper with cronnie and torg for couple laps, nice fair clean racin, too bad i couldnt keep concentrated

Totally unlike you slax, wondered where you got to numerous times! I pulled my mic out for all races, I'm that worlds worst at multitasking.
Nice going Duco, what car was he using?
